Who we are

In the UK, AfGH is represented by three original and core partners - the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (the Alliance), Interact Worldwide and TB Alert.

Established in 1993, the Alliance is a global partnership of nationally-based organisations working to support community action on AIDS in more than 40 low and middle-income countries. Interact Worldwide is an international NGO with more than 30 years experience of improving the sexual and reproductive health and rights, of some of the poorest and most marginalised people in the world. TB Alert is a UK-based NGO established in 1999, working nationally and internationally towards the control and ultimate eradication of tuberculosis.

AfGH in the UK has expanded to include other health and development organisations with which we regularly have joint work. The original UK partners of AfGH are keen to enable interested partners to contribute more strategically to AfGH activities in the UK and be involved in decision-making and direction-setting, while also maintaining the open, information-sharing dimension of the network.

We are currently building on the loose coalition of UK-based NGOs that has been developed, continuing to bring together organisations focussing on disease-specific issues with broader health and development organisations; and working to advance policy and advocacy messages - in relation to the role of the UK Government and the European Commission - in supporting the achievement of the health-related MDGs.

In the UK, AfGH also works closely with a wide variety of organisations thorough mediums such as BOND, the UK Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Network, the UK Aid Network, the UK Coalition to Stop TB and the UK Consortium on Aids and International Development.
