Health in the post-2015 Global Development Framework - UK-based global health networks’ common ‘must-haves’

This document is a collaborative piece of work by UK-based global health networks that have come together to find common messages about how health can and should feature in the global development framework to follow the MDGs. The agreement of these common messages gives us a shared basis for our work and should serve as a resource, but not a limitation, to us all. Individual networks and organisations may want to add disease-specific points to these broad messages to fully reflect their perspectives. Our goal is to ensure as strong and co-ordinated a voice as possible within the UK for the overall emphasis on health within the post-MDGs.

The IMF, the Global Crisis and Human Resources for Health: Still Constraining Policy Space

Action for Global Health in the UK, together with the Stop AIDS Campaign, has released a report on the impact of International Monetary Fund (IMF) policies on the human resources for health crisis in developing countries. It examines evidence from nine IMF country programmes, chosen based on their HIV prevalence rates, and finds that although the IMF has changed its tune and is talking about greater flexibility, these changes are not enough and are only temporary.
