Event outline:

UHC2030, launched during UNGA 2016, will have its first Steering Committee in June 2017. The Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM) will be a critical contributor to UHC2030, providing an organised and effective way for CSO voices to be heard within the UHC agenda. It will ensure systematic attention is given to the needs of the most marginalised and vulnerable populations to ensure no one is left behind. The CSEM seeks to strengthen an inclusive and broad movement on UHC, influence policy design and implementation, strengthen citizen-led and social accountability mechanisms, and promote coordination and harmonisation between CSO platforms and networks working on health related issues. To achieve this goal, an interim secretariat together with a pre-advisory group composed of 26 NGOs from diverse region and countries have been working together on the initial first steps of the CSEM. The current CSEM structure and mandate was finalised in December 2016 based on the result of a broad online consultation launched in 3 languages and a number of face to face webinar sessions. As we approach the first steering committee meeting of UHC2030 and the CSEM is transformed from the pre-advisory group to the official CSO constituency of UHC2030, we invite you to join us for a discussion during this year’s World Health Assemb
